MMM-MMMM NEW MOIST AND MEATY CAPPER LINKAGE

If you look over at Shablorp's handy-dandy link sidebar, you'll notice that more cappers are becoming aware of the site and sharing their own sites. So, let's welcome some of our new guests, shall we?

First up, we have DeviantART from our very own CrabOfDoom. Give it a look see. You're going to be able to spot some fascinating and arresting artwork there.

Also on the subject of artistic wonder, we have Reyfox.net. It comes from our own Reynard T. Fox (which in a "manos" kind of way, means "Fox the Fox," doesn't it?). Anywhooze, Reyfox has got an impressive art gallery as well as caption galleries that go back years.

On the other side of things, I urge you to visit one of the more interesting blogs I've come across in some time - it's our own Nyssa 23's Garden of Earthly Delights. Find out what's happening with our little Nyssa and how she views the world.

Also, if you like those video embeds and such that are so popular with the kids these days, our very own Seltaeb has his own Youtube channel. See how he wreaks havoc in his appearances on Morning Express.

Also, if you want, you can check out the MySpace page of me, TravisBickle. But remember, it's a private account. So, please let me know who you are or your ass will be kicked out quite badly.

I got a few other links that I may not have posted yet. If you sent me one and don't see it, let me know. One of the reasons they might not be here is I have no idea who you are. I got a few links but I don't have a capper to match them to. So, send a follow-up and give me a handle to match to the sites, some of which I admit are great.

And if you haven't sent anything in, why not? We still want your links. So, feel free to send them to scottwdavis2000@yahoo.com, or just comment on one of the blog postings. I do read them.

DID ANYONE GET THE LICENSE NUMBER OF THAT SCHEDULE CHANGE?

Look, it's going to happen. Every now and then, the schedule is going to change without my knowledge and it's going to change after I have already posted by overly detailed run-through of the following weekend's activities. So, it happened this last weekend. Some of the stuff that was to be shown Friday and Saturday was rescheduled to the following weekend. All you need to know is that if you missed them, there are two new items in the catalog that have already popped up in a scheduled slot. They are:

VIXEN (1968)
The Director
Russ Meyer (Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill!, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Mudhoney)
The Stars Erica Gavin (Caged Heat, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls), Harrison Page (Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Sledge Hammer), Garth Pillsbury (If You Don't Stop It... You'll Go Blind), Jon Evans, Vincene Wallace, Robert Aiken, Michael Donovan O'Donnell, Peter Carpenter, John Furlong, Jackie Illman
The Plot The story takes place in British Columbia, of all places, where a bush pilot and his wife (the Vixen of the movie, played by Gavin) reside, flying visitors to and from their cabin. Vixen is not the faithful wife, however, as, in her very first scene, she makes it with the local Mountie. Later, she gets it on with both the husband and wife who are the latest guests in the bush pilot's cabin. Other character's in this movie include Vixen's brother, whom she taunts about as aggressively as she does with non-familial relations, and the brother's friend, Niles, an African-American who, like many people of the era, jumped the border to escape the Vietnam draft.
Fun Fact 1: One of the first films to receive the newly-formed MPAA's X rating.
Fun Fact 2: One of the critics who notably gave this film a rave review was Roger Ebert. Years later, Ebert would write Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

RETURN TO THE PLANET OF THE APES
#102 - "Escape from Ape City" -- Original Airdate 9/13/1975
The Plot
This comes from one of those new-fangled user comments on the IMDB (as opposed to the usual descriptions I lift without attribution): "The second episode in Return to the Planet of the Apes, "Escape from Ape City", primarily follows the plight of Bill as he is taken to Cornelius and Zira's lab for experimentation. Bill quite naturally proves to be brighter than the average human. But when brain surgery is suggested, Bill blows his cover and the apes discover he can speak. Not wanting to see him put to death, Cornelius and Zira agree to help Bill escape. As with the first episode, "Escape from Ape City" doesn't provide many surprises for those familiar with the basic storyline found in Planet of the Apes. The plot closely mirrors Taylor's ordeal from the movie. One interesting change is that ape city and the civilization presented in this episode more closely resembles Pierre Boulle's original book. It's a more advanced culture with transportation, communication, and other "modern" infrastructure. Also, I feel I should mention that I do enjoy the way the story arc continues from one episode to the next. It gives the overall series a more natural flow.

So, there you go. Just go to the HCC Rewind Catalog to see these items and more. Other stuff has just been added as well, but we'll cover that in upcoming schedules. I'm also prepping a detailed look at many of the films available for voting in the queue.

Fun Fact 1: Director Mario Bava used the mirror-based Schufftan Process to combine live action with miniatures and thereby avoiding the costly matte/optical printing techniques.
Fun Fact 2: This was the film on which Mario Bava's son, Lamberto Bava, began his career as his father's assistant. Lamberto would latter become a director himself.

4:00 SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS
#203 "A Firestar Is Born" - Original Airdate -- 9/25/1982
The Plot During an X-Men reunion, Angelica Jones recounts how she became Firestar and dealt with a childhood full of torment (thanks to her nemesis, Bonnie).
Fun Fact 1: Originally, The Human Torch was going to be in the series with Spider-Man and Iceman. Licensing issues at the time prevented the use of the Human Torch and so Firestar was created to fill the open spot. Her looks were modeled after Mary Jane Watson in the "Spider-Man" comic.
Fun Fact 2: The character "Firestar," created for this show, proved so popular that she was inserted into the main-line comic-book continuity as part of the super-villain team "The Hellions" in "The Uncanny X-Men" in 1984. She soon got her own mini-series, and as of 2002, is still a main character in "The Mighty Avengers."

The Stars David Tennant, Freema Agyeman, Carey Mulligan, Lucy Gaskell, Finaly Robertson
The Plot "Don't Blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't Blink. Good Luck." These cryptic messages left on 17 DVD's leave Sally Sparrow on a journey to assist the Doctor and Martha Jones, who are trapped in 1969. But Sally is in 2007, and they won't meet until 2008. Strange? Unusual? Not if you are the Doctor.
Fun Fact: Voted Best Story by readers of Doctor Who Magazine in their Season Three Season Survey.

CAPPER SITE UPDATES 9-23-08

First of all, thanks for all the submissions from my fellow cappers in helping make Shablorp as comprehensive as possible. If you have more links, I still want 'em.

As for now, let's see what's happening in and out the World of Cap.

If you head over to Porpoise Project, you'll see some pics from the L.A. CapFest and some funky postcards as only cappers can make them.

A kid's got a big haul and a tricky situation for when he eventually goes downhill the newest image from Will Cap for Food.

Blame it on a rush of blood to the head with the newest of the many images at the Capper Blog.

The wonderfully prolific UnReality keeps you up to date on everything going on at Occasional Fish.

Cuttin' and scratchin' are aspects of E_B_A's game and most of the media section is up at Shapeless Mass.

Read the latest stories or make some up yourself at Wasting Precious Time.

InsideOutMan ruminates on both YouTube spoof videos and Dungeons and Dragons at Levitude.

Generik is back from his vacation and he's voting Republican. In other news, Hell has frozen over and Sarah Palin has been inducted into MENSA. Find out what's really going on at The Generik Brand.

A few weeks ago, I posted a not-terribly-comprehensive article about Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal at my other blog, Adventure Without Shame.

As far as new sites added to Shablorp that weren't covered here, we also have a page where you can check out some nifty art by our very own Zoogicub. Check out NeoSquirrel.com

And of course at Hipsoda, you can check out last Saturday's capping session. Or you can just skip around and see the recent favorites. Don't forget, there's scheduled capping on Fridays now too, so you can screw your entire weekend.

A NEW BLOG ALREADY!

Ah, this is good to see. Been here less than a week and already not only to I have a site to report on, but a brand spankin' new site from one of our great cappers. The man is InsideOutMan (who were guessing didn't get that name because he looks like Slim Goodbody).

IOMan just started his own blog and hopefully won't mind my enthusiastic pimping of it. It's called Levitude, a fine name I must say and probably one that contains more meaning than the susudio-esque "shablorp." He's got his first post up, and it's a fun brief read about a talented actor and a damn good show.

And to anyone else out there - I STILL WANT YOUR LINKS! It can be fancy or bare bones, it can be clean or trashy (though I lean towards trashy, just because, you know - WHOO!) and it can be something that exists for capping or completely outside that realm.

So, just leave a comment here on the site or e-mail me at scottwdavis2000@yahoo.com and I'll be happy to link to it here and keep people informed on its progress.

See you on the capping boards.

TravisBickle

YOU SEND ME CAPPERS' LINKS!!!

Monday, September 15, 2008

SHABLORP, BABY!

Welcome to Shablorp. If you have no idea what this is, well then you're just a rational human being then, aren't you?

Shablorp has been developed by TravisBickle as an easy go-to source for the capping community at Hipsoda's Caption Crack, hosted on at Hipsoda.com. It may or may not (but probably will) serve as a place to share Travis' random psychoses. But primarily, just the capping community. We'll keep you updated on what's happening with HCC and its sister sites.

If you're a capper, you probably already know that we have a Capper Wiki and other sources. By all means, use 'em. A lot of work went into those sites and they are great resources that Shablorp will continue to link to. Shablorp should be seen as an alternative, companion but not competition to those great and invaluable sites. No, Shablorp will have a different interface for easy-to-access and often updated info about HCC and all the cappers' sites.

Which brings us to the most important thing here - WE NEED YOUR WEBSITES!!!!

If you are a capper and you currently have a website that you update, we want it - EVEN IF IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAPPING!!! The idea here is to strengthen the capping community even further and connect the various cappers together, keeping everyone updated on what's going on in your lives.... assuming you have lives outside of HCC. I don't care if it's a blog, commercial website, porn (pleasepleaseplease), MySpace or Facebook page. Whatever you have, drop me a line at scottwdavis2000@yahoo.com or simply leave a comment on the site and we'll keep people abreast (yes, I said "abreast" - try not to faint) of what's going on with you.

Also, a special thanks to our very own Occupant who made our nifty and more than a little disturbing logo.

Shablorp, people.
